In
August of 1977 I rode in the back seat of a car with friends driving away
from Queens, New York heading towards Berkshire County MA. I was a 23
year old woodworker/carpenter.
I was trying on a blue turban and struggling with a song and a few lines
to recite later that day in my first super 8 movie called Have Faith in
Vishnu. Sam Mills, my cousin, was directing and acting in the film. He
was up front driving and talking to Lewis Buchner, an experienced cameraman,
about the shooting schedule for the afternoon.
I had never been interested in film, photography, storytelling or acting.
On that day we would make a short film, come up with a name for our film
group, and create a unique, sophomoric style, that would please viewers
for years to come.
Have some fun. Be perplexed and hopefully inspired at the same time.
In the year 2000 I was without a cameraman and still wanted to make short
films. I bought a wide-angle lens for my digital camera. For two years
I practiced shooting myself as actor off a tripod. I evolved, and learned
to carry the camera hand-held pointed towards me, creating tracking shots
for my characters. I have become an actor/filmmaker who is making original
short movies without a cast or crew.
My credits are thin but I have soul.
ALL IS WELL
the dream is free
